This regional report describes the behavioral health landscape for young children and families across Coös, Carroll, and Upper Grafton counties. It highlights key stressors, access gaps, and promising non-clinical and clinical strategies, and is being used to guide solution planning at the 2025 Behavioral Health Convening.

Prepared with the Behavioral Health Improvement Institute (BHII), this needs assessment highlights what families, early care and education providers, and community partners say they need most for young children’s behavioral health. It focuses on non-clinical supports, access barriers, and priorities to guide the Behavioral Health Tactical Team’s next phase of work.

Our community is located in the heart of the White Mountains in northern New Hampshire. We serve children and families in Coos County and bordering towns. We are working to create a coordinated, sustainable system of supports for families that will promote optimal cognitive, physical, social and emotional development in young children birth through age 8.
