Our Mission

Promote optimal development for children from birth through age eight and their families in Coös County and surrounding communities.
In Coös County, caring for a young child can mean carrying a lot at once. Families may be worried about their child’s development, searching for behavioral health support, driving long distances for services, or trying to figure out where to turn next.

The Coös Coalition for Young Children and Families brings partners together so families, caregivers, educators, and providers do not have to do this work alone.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we are sharing real stories that show how early support, strong relationships, and connected systems make a difference.

Small Gift. Big Impact.
Every $8 Makes a Difference.

CCYCF is fiscally sponsored by North Country Education Services (NCES), a registered 501(c)(3). Donations are processed by NCES, and your receipt/statement will show North Country Education Services (EIN 02-0304424). Your gift will be directed to CCYCF’s work.
When Educators Feel Supported, Children Do Too
At Lancaster Play and Learn, support from Vicki and Infant Mental Health has helped the program feel more supported, responsive, and better equipped to meet children’s needs.

For program leaders, this kind of partnership matters. Directors are often balancing staffing needs, family concerns, classroom dynamics, and the daily realities of running an early childhood program. Having a trusted Infant Mental Health partner adds another layer of reflection, problem-solving, and support.

For teachers, the impact is just as important. Educators need space to think through children’s behavior, relationships, and emotional needs with someone who understands early childhood development and what young children may be communicating through their actions..

How CCYCF Supports this work

The Coös Coalition for Young Children and Families works to strengthen the relationships, tools, and partnerships that make early support possible.

Your support helps us:

💚 Strengthen non-clinical behavioral health supports for young children, caregivers, and educators

💚 Expand developmental screening efforts so concerns can be identified earlier

💚 Support family engagement and warm connections to local resources

💚 Build stronger partnerships across child care, schools, Head Start, health care, family support, and community organizations

💚 Support smoother transitions into kindergarten and school-based services

💚 Provide behind-the-scenes coordination that helps families experience less confusion and more trust

This is systems-building work. It may happen quietly, but families, educators, and children feel the difference.

Coös kids thrive when families and providers are connected

We link families, schools, early childhood programs, and community partners to the supports that help every child grow, learn, and belong.

Screen your child

Catch concerns early—screenings open the door to support. We use the Ages & Stages Questionnaires® (ASQ-3 and ASQ: SE-2) for children from birth through age 5½.

Our community is located in the heart of the White Mountains in northern New Hampshire. We serve children and families in Coos County and bordering towns. We are working to create a coordinated, sustainable system of supports for families that will promote optimal cognitive, physical, social and emotional development in young children birth through age 8.
